Black rice anthocyanins: ingredients, content & research
Updated: 7 October 2026
Black rice, extract and finished tablets
Black rice as a grain, black rice extract and a formulated food tablet are different products. This tablet contains xylitol, black rice extract, corn starch and magnesium stearate. Its total tablet weight is not its anthocyanin weight. Composition, serving sizes and research findings cannot be compared as if all three products were identical.
Label-based anthocyanin content
≥49.8 mg per tablet · ≥99.6 mg per two tablets Calculated from the label: ≥83 mg/g × 0.6 g per tablet. These are composition amounts, not absorbed amounts or a promise of benefit.
Label guidance & storage
The supplied label suggests two tablets daily with warm water. Single bottle: about 30 days; each 30-tablet gift bottle: about 15 days. Shelf life: 24 months. Keep sealed in a cool, dry place; check the actual pack date and seal.
Read the evidence in context
Independent human studies concern black rice or specific extracts, not this finished tablet. Different formulations, doses and populations limit comparison. These publications do not establish product benefits or imply endorsement by researchers or PubMed.
2026 · Memory and inflammation
A small randomized crossover trial in 24 older adults used 210 g of black rice daily, supplying 208 mg anthocyanins. After eight days, some memory measures improved and IL-6 decreased. No significant effects on blood pressure or microvascular blood flow were found. Small sample and short duration limit conclusions.

105 obese postmenopausal women were randomized; 88 completed a 12-week trial of 1 g black rice extract daily or placebo. Some body-fat measures improved, but weight, BMI and waist circumference did not differ significantly. This preliminary study does not establish a weight-loss effect for this tablet.

A randomized placebo-controlled crossover trial tested isolated anthocyanins from black rice and bilberry. Black rice provided 320 mg anthocyanins daily. No significant improvement in LDL cholesterol or other studied cardiovascular biomarkers was demonstrated.

The label says to keep them sealed in a cool, dry place. Follow the actual pack instructions and expiry date; no separate after-opening period has been supplied.
Why can the mouth be slightly coloured?
The label notes that anthocyanins may slightly colour the mouth. This does not indicate absorption, purity or effectiveness.
