A small randomized crossover trial in 24 older adults used 210 g of black rice daily, supplying 208 mg anthocyanins. After eight days, some memory measures improved and IL-6 decreased. No significant effects on blood pressure or microvascular blood flow were found. Small sample and short duration limit conclusions.

Some body-fat measures improved, but weight, BMI and waist circumference did not differ significantly. This preliminary study does not establish a weight-loss effect for this tablet.
